Syamidrake Types

Description

Soo I've become semi obsessed with drawing these guys >.> they're a lot of fun to do.
Originally it was Ravae squidina.deviantart.com/art/Th… and a couple others and squidina.deviantart.com/art/Mo… came out, so now they've oddly become a lil species I keep doodling whenever I'm in an art slump.

Syamidrake minibio:
After a good deal of inbreeding and contact with exposed chemicals on the planet, Syamidrakes became an actual species that grows and develops as conjoined twins.  There is always a dominant of the two who usually stays on the bottom and does majority of the decision making.  The recessive drake becomes more active when needed.
They can both think separately, and tend to have their own personalities, however the dominant drake is the one who normally takes over.

The drakes internal biology is split.  One twin has all of the reproductive organs, and it's large heart and lungs, while the other drake houses all of the other internal organs.  Because of the mass amounts of nutrient and blood circulation needed neither drake can survive for long after the other passes.  The reproductive drake is also more vocal and social than the feeding twin.

The dominant and recessive drake are determined by each individual.  In males it's a 50/50 split as to the reproductive twin being dominant and the feeding drake being dominant.  In females most of the time the feeding drake is dominant while the reproductive becomes more so when breeding season comes around.

Socially groups can be made between multiple syamidrakes.  Creation of groups normally depends on the amount of resources in the surrounding areas as well as the number of drakes.  The lower the population of drakes in an area the more likely they are to form a group.

Syamidrake types:

Earthen

Fast, fierce and strong.   They are the strongest out of the 5 types (yes there are only 4 shown the other is aquatic).  Normally both twins have an almost equal amount of time spent hunting prey and making burrows.  They spend a lot of time making their burrows and the quality of their earthen home is a huge bonus for potential mates.  Groups will create caverns with multiple side rooms.

Wyrm:
The fiercest out of the 5.  Wyrms spend most of their time in the air and along high cliff sides.  They have a massive appetite and their four wings makes them almost impossible to get away from.  Their abilities and acrobatics in the air are a huge advantage.  Wyrms do make nests high along cliffs and gorges and normally live in areas with other wyrms to help insure their young is safe from eggsnatchers.

Runner:
The fastest on land.  Most of the time the recessive drake is smaller than the dominant as the Dominant spends almost all of it's life running for prey or to avoid being prey.  It's smaller than the other drakes, more intelligent and extremely social.  It's nostrils and chest cavity are also enlarged to help with taking in enough air at speed.  Most Runners form very active groups with a social hierarchy.  Runners are also known to be taken in as pets due to their intelligence.  They are high maintenance but are very loyal once trained and can be extremely helpful.

Mutants:
Most mutants don't live very long but the ones that do normally exceed the other drake types.  They can vary in a massive amount of ways and the ones that survive for an extended period can end up being either tyrants of the food chain or great additions to the other drakes social groups.

Aquatic:
Extremely rare, not many are known and the ones that are tend to be terrifying.

Typed a lot more than I meant to but these little guys have dug their way into my brain and I haven't been able to help thinking up more and more on them.  Hopefully will try to upload more sketches of them soon.
